Aimee Schweig by all accounts, holds the title of “The Grande Dame” of painters in the history of St. Louis. Educated at the
St. Louis School of Fine Arts, Washington University,
she would further her studies with Hawthrone and Hensche at the Provincetown Art Colony.
Instrumental in the founding of the Ste. Genevieve Art Colony and featured in numerous publications including
“An American Art Colony; The Art and Artists of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri.” She exhibited in many important shows and won numerous awards including the 1945 City Art Museum Exhibition where she won a prize.
This important painting titled “Abstract Number One” was exhibited at the St. Louis Artists Guild. Its settle colors create a peaceful experience for the viewer. We are pleased to offer this painting to our friends.
